Dying to make your baby an adorable little knitted hat but think it will take you way too much time and money?

We also were afraid but we got up the courage to pop into L'Atelier on Montana and were so surprised what we found! 

We found a big table to hang out at and learn with helpful and friendly staff (not to mention very hip), who not only showed us how to knit a simple stitch, they gave us free lessons.  That's right, just buy your supplies there (a few spools of yarn and your knitting needles) and with their help, you're off!

The lovely Andromeda helped and encouraged us when we went in completely blind and we must say that she's a doll.  She put together the first stitches on the needle (they call it "casting off") and then she showed us a simple and easy knitting stitch. 

After hanging out at the table and talking with other people about their knitting projects, life, etc., we felt comfortable enough to go home and continue our homework project on our own which was to continue practicing the stitch.  A few days later, we proudly returned with our knitting homework and were greeted with a "congratulations you can now start your hat project."

Then, one of the friendly staff put together a pattern for us, started us off and gave us easy directions on how to continue.  We will be back in a week or so to receive instruction on how to finish our little baby hat!

(And guess what??  They have ghost knitters who finish projects for you just in case you run into a time crunch - that makes us feel real good!)

(Note to readers: I'm on my 5th baby hat by now and graduating to a sweater next week!)
